Megaventory

by Megaventory

Light manufacturingProprietary SaaS✓ Verified

Cloud inventory and order management with production orders, multi-level builds, batch and serial tracking, a public API and QuickBooks Online and store integrations. Material planning is a separate beta service run through a third party, not part of the core product.

Why it is classified this way

We call this a Light manufacturing product. Has bills of materials or recipes, consumes stock when you build, and tracks production, but time-phased planning is not verified.

It is not labeled Full MRP because we have not verified that it accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule; nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming; explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials; uses lead times or required dates; and produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. That is a statement about the evidence we found, not a claim that the product is weak, see the capability table and the sources below.

The six Full MRP tests, and how Megaventory does on each (1 of 6)
  1. YesIt represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula.Evidence: help.megaventory.com › Batch numbers and expiry dates in manufacturing(opens in a new tab); help.megaventory.com › Manufacturing production(opens in a new tab)
  2. PartialIt accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.
  3. PartialIt nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.
  4. PartialIt explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.Only through Inventory Planning, which the help center describes as "provided as a pilot in beta mode and by means of an integration with a 3rd party service", priced separately from $200 a month plus a $1,000 setup fee. There, "the system uses the bill of materials information to calculate the dependent demand for materials consistent with the production plans". The core product does not plan. help.megaventory.com › How to implement material requirements planning(opens in a new tab)
  5. PartialIt uses lead times or required dates. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.
  6. PartialIt produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.

These rules are applied identically to every product and enforced at build time, a record cannot be published as Full MRP unless all six pass with a source attached. Read the methodology.

Best for

  • Small teams that make simple multi-level products and mainly need stock, orders and production orders in one place
  • Shops selling through Shopify, WooCommerce or Magento with QuickBooks Online behind them
  • Builders who want a documented API included in the base plan

Not a fit when

  • Buyers who need dated material planning in the core product: it is a separate beta service run by a third party
  • Businesses on Xero or QuickBooks Desktop, which have no native connection
  • Shops needing routings, capacity scheduling or quality checks, which we found no documentation for

Editorial notes and cautions

Things we would want a friend to know before buying.

  • The MRP articles in the help center describe the Inventory Planning service, which the vendor calls "a pilot in beta mode" run through a third-party service, priced from $200 a month plus $1,000 setup. Treat it as an optional extra, not a feature of the $135 plan.
  • The $135 headline is the annual-billing rate; month to month it is $150.

Alternatives to Megaventory

An alternative is always an alternative for a reason. There is no universal replacement.

  • Compared on Erplain's page, where we wrote: "Megaventory includes multi-level production and five users for $135 a month billed yearly; the same team on Erplain with manufacturing, lots and purchase orders costs about $200."

What we still want to confirm

We publish our gaps rather than hiding them. If you can point us at a first-party page for any of these, we will update the record and credit the correction.

  • Find documentation for routings, shop-floor tracking, quality checks and capacity.
  • Confirm how product cost and COGS are calculated.
  • Check for webhooks and what a full data export contains.
  • Watch for the Inventory Planning service leaving beta or moving into the core product.

Still unknown: capacity planning, recipes & formulas, routings & operations, shop-floor tracking, quality controls, webhooks, mcp support.
