Aptean Food & Beverage ERP
by Aptean
Food and beverage ERP built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, with catch weight calculated automatically through to invoicing and ingredient-level traceability in both directions. Being built on Business Central means a Microsoft license sits underneath the quote.
Why it is classified this way
We call this a Manufacturing ERP product. A broad business system (accounting, sales, purchasing) with a substantial manufacturing or planning module attached.
It is not labeled Full MRP because we have not verified that it represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula; accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule; nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming; explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials; uses lead times or required dates; and produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. That is a statement about the evidence we found, not a claim that the product is weak, see the capability table and the sources below.
The six Full MRP tests, and how Aptean Food & Beverage ERP does on each (0 of 6)
- PartialIt represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.
- PartialIt accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.

These rules are applied identically to every product and enforced at build time, a record cannot be published as Full MRP unless all six pass with a source attached. Read the methodology.
Best for
- Food and beverage makers selling variable-weight products, where catch weight runs to invoicing
- Shops needing bi-directional ingredient tracing and allergen management for compliance
- Companies already committed to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Not a fit when
- Anyone wanting to avoid a Microsoft platform decision alongside the ERP decision
- Buyers needing a published price, since neither Aptean's nor Microsoft's part is published here
- Small makers, given an enterprise vendor and an implementation-led sale
Pricing facts
What it costs to do manufacturing in this product.
No published price
This vendor does not publish pricing, so you cannot compare it against anything here without contacting them. We will not estimate a figure.
What moves the real bill
- Required add-ons. The manufacturing capability needs: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, licensed separately from Microsoft (price not published by this vendor).
- No published price. You have to contact the vendor, which usually means a sales call.
Pricing detail
No published pricing. The product is built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, so ask whether the quote includes the Business Central licenses or assumes you already hold them. Aptean also sells a separate Process Manufacturing ERP that is not built on Business Central, which is a different product with its own record here.

Planning
Working out what to buy or make, and when.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Accepts dated demandYou can tell it what is due and when, sales orders with dates, a forecast, or a production schedule. | Partial | A 2021 promotional vendor video (2021 video) says you can "leverage demand forecasting to know exactly what you can expect to sell and what you need to source or produce". No demo shows which demand feeds planning, or whether forecasting is Aptean's or Business Central's.Source: Vendor video, 2021, at 1:09(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Nets against stock on handIt subtracts what you already have before telling you to buy more. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation describing a requirement calculation that deducts available stock.Know the answer? |
| Counts incoming ordersIt knows about purchase orders and production orders already placed, so it does not tell you to order twice. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation showing open purchase or production orders included in the supply picture.Know the answer? |
| Uses lead timesIt works backwards from when you need something to when you must order or start it, using supplier and production lead times. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation showing lead time fields that shift a suggested order or start date.Know the answer? |
| Produces dated buy/make suggestionsThe output is an actionable list with dates, order this much by this date, start this batch on this date. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation or a screenshot of replenishment or planning suggestions carrying dates.Know the answer? |
| Capacity planningChecks whether your people and machines can do the work in the time available. | Partial | Aptean's Advanced Production Planning module runs MPS and MRP, and the vendor says "you are offered insight into demand for capacity of labour, equipment and critical materials for the longer term". Comparing that demand against available capacity is not shown. From the Foodware 365 site, Aptean's own site for the EMEA edition of this product; the US edition may differ.Reviewed October 9, 2026. |---|---|---|
| Bill of materialsA list of the parts and quantities needed to make one of something. | Partial | A 30-second 2023 vendor promotional video says "Link allergen info to item numbers and bills of materials", so bills of material exist, but no demo shows how they are built or whether they nest.Source: Vendor video, 2023, at 0:27(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Multi-level BOMSub-assemblies inside assemblies, a part that is itself made from other parts, nested as deep as you need. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation of nested or multi-level bom structures, not just a flat component list.Know the answer? |

Editorial notes and cautions
Things we would want a friend to know before buying.
- Built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. That is a platform commitment as much as a software purchase, and the Business Central licensing is a separate cost from Aptean's.
Evidence and verification
Kept separate from Aptean's Process Manufacturing ERP because it is built on a different platform rather than being an industry edition of the same product. Evidence is thinner than for Process Manufacturing: catch weight and traceability are described well, formula management barely at all, and the vendor videos found are promotional clips that name features without showing them. A 2022 vendor video (2022 video) calls it "an integrated cloud-based system built on the microsoft dynamics 365 platform". The Foodware 365 site (the EMEA edition) describes Aptean's own Advanced Production Planning module: "This is done with MPS and MRP." It does not say whether that module builds on Business Central's planning worksheet. The Business Central dependency is recorded as a required add-on because it is a real cost the vendor's pricing conversation may not itemize.

What we still want to confirm
We publish our gaps rather than hiding them. If you can point us at a first-party page for any of these, we will update the record and credit the correction.
- Get pricing, and establish whether Business Central licenses are included or assumed. Quote-only: the Foodware 365 pricing page offers three editions, each behind "Request your offer", with service costs on top, and no page says whether Business Central licenses are included. Needs a sales quote.
- Establish whether formulas and recipes exist as managed objects with version control. No public Aptean page describes formula or recipe records; the production pages mention testing new recipes in R&D only. Needs a demo.
- Confirm whether Aptean's Advanced Production Planning module builds on Business Central's planning worksheet, and whether the US edition has the same module. The Foodware 365 (EMEA) site says only that it runs MPS and MRP.
Still unknown: nets against stock on hand, counts incoming orders, uses lead times, produces dated buy/make suggestions, multi-level bom, routings & operations, webhooks, mcp support, csv export, full data export.
