Cim50 Manufacturing

by CIM Software Ltd

Full MRPProprietary on-premise✓ Verified

A modular MRP add-on for Sage 50 Accounts in the UK and Ireland: stock control, multi-level BOMs, works orders, time-phased MRP, shop floor barcoding and a graphical scheduler, with the ledger, sales and purchase orders staying in Sage 50.

Why it is classified this way

We call this a Full MRP product. Verified to take dated demand, net it against stock and incoming orders, explode a bill of materials, apply lead times, and produce dated buy-or-make recommendations.

This product meets all six of our Full MRP tests, and each one is backed by a first-party page we link below.

The six Full MRP tests, and how Cim50 Manufacturing does on each (6 of 6)
  1. YesIt represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula.Evidence: cim-software.co.uk › Bill of materials(opens in a new tab)
  2. YesIt accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule.Evidence: cim-software.co.uk › Planning(opens in a new tab); cim-software.co.uk › Running mrp(opens in a new tab)
  3. YesIt nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming.Evidence: cim-software.co.uk › Running mrp(opens in a new tab)
  4. YesIt explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials.Evidence: cim-software.co.uk › Actioning mrp recommendations(opens in a new tab); cim-software.co.uk › Running mrp(opens in a new tab)MRP processes items in usage-level order so that component demand from a works order recommendation is caught: "if we had a recommendation to raise a works order for 100 Maple Desks, that would also generate a demand to manufacture 100 Maple Drawsets, which would generate a demand to purchase 100 Lock Sets."
  5. YesIt uses lead times or required dates.Evidence: cim-software.co.uk › Planning(opens in a new tab); cim-software.co.uk › Amend view mrp recommendations(opens in a new tab)
  6. YesIt produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations.Evidence: cim-software.co.uk › Amend view mrp recommendations(opens in a new tab); cim-software.co.uk › Running mrp(opens in a new tab)

These rules are applied identically to every product and enforced at build time, a record cannot be published as Full MRP unless all six pass with a source attached. Read the methodology.

Best for

  • Small UK and Irish manufacturers on Sage 50 Accounts who want real time-phased MRP
  • Shops migrating off the retired Sage 50 Manufacturing, which Sage recommends Cim50 to replace
  • Buyers who want to add modules over time, starting with stock control

Not a fit when

  • Anyone not on Sage 50 Accounts, since Cim50 depends on it for orders and the ledger
  • Buyers who want a published price list: only typical and average monthly figures are given
  • Teams wanting browser-based cloud software; it is a Windows install, with hosted virtual desktops as an option

Pricing facts

What it costs to do manufacturing in this product.

No published price

This vendor does not publish pricing, so you cannot compare it against anything here without contacting them. We will not estimate a figure.

What moves the real bill

  • Required add-ons. The manufacturing capability needs: Sage 50 Accounts Professional, sold separately by Sage, Stock Control, the one mandatory Cim50 module.
  • Onboarding fee. Not published. Migration from Sage 50 Manufacturing, training and report set-up are described as a consultant-led project with no price.
  • Priced per module. The base plan is not the whole system. Check which modules you need.
  • No published price. You have to contact the vendor, which usually means a sales call.

Pricing detail

No price list. The vendor gives two indicative figures rather than a rate: the homepage says "Typical cost ~£295/€345 per month", and the Cim50 FAQ says "The average subscription price across our customer base is ~£313.50/€365.50 per month. The subscription cost is dependent on the number of modules and concurrent users licences you need." The subscription "includes a licence to use the software, software updates, and technical support". There are 7 modules and "Stock Control is the only mandatory module". Sage 50 Accounts Professional is a separate subscription. Hosting on Azure Virtual Desktop is an optional monthly extra, quoted separately.

Editorial notes and cautions

Things we would want a friend to know before buying.

  • The planning, scheduler and shop floor features are separate modules, so what you pay depends on which you take. The vendor quotes a typical ~£295 and an average ~£313.50 a month, not a rate.
  • Purchase orders are created and amended in Sage 50 Accounts; MRP can recommend rescheduling a purchase order, but that change is made in Sage 50.

What we still want to confirm

We publish our gaps rather than hiding them. If you can point us at a first-party page for any of these, we will update the record and credit the correction.

  • Find the batch-manufacturing features (recipes, expiry dates) on the industry pages or the knowledgebase.
  • Get an actual price for a configuration, not the typical and average figures.
  • Check for an API, e-commerce connectors and a full data export.

Still unknown: recipes & formulas, expiry & shelf life, ecommerce connection, api, webhooks, mcp support, full data export.
