DataNinja
by DataNinja, Inc.
Cloud MES and electronic batch record system for regulated makers such as supplements, cosmetics, food and pharmaceuticals, with formula BOMs, lot traceability, quality workflows and MRP, syncing to QuickBooks Online or NetSuite.
Why it is classified this way
We call this a Batch / process manufacturing product. Built around recipes or formulas, batch runs, and lot genealogy. May or may not include full time-phased planning.
It is not labeled Full MRP because we have not verified that it uses lead times or required dates; and produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. That is a statement about the evidence we found, not a claim that the product is weak, see the capability table and the sources below.
The six Full MRP tests, and how DataNinja does on each (4 of 6)
- YesIt represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula.Evidence: docs.dataninja.com › Bills of materials bom(opens in a new tab)
- YesIt accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule.Evidence: docs.dataninja.com › Mrp(opens in a new tab); docs.dataninja.com › Forecast(opens in a new tab)
- YesIt nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming.Evidence: docs.dataninja.com › Mrp(opens in a new tab); docs.dataninja.com › Best practices with mrp(opens in a new tab)
- YesIt explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials.Evidence: docs.dataninja.com › Forecast(opens in a new tab); docs.dataninja.com › Best practices with mrp(opens in a new tab)"By forecasting a finished good, the Forecast will automatically pass down to each part associated with the finished good", appearing on components as "Scheduled Manufacturing Demand" and "Unscheduled Manufacturing Demand". Scheduled production also reserves its components in MRP.
- PartialIt uses lead times or required dates. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.
- PartialIt produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.
These rules are applied identically to every product and enforced at build time, a record cannot be published as Full MRP unless all six pass with a source attached. Read the methodology.
Best for
- Supplement, cosmetics and food makers under FDA rules who need electronic batch records with e-signatures
- Regulated shops that need forward and reverse lot tracing for a mock recall
- QuickBooks Online users who want production and inventory postings made for them
Not a fit when
- Small teams on a tight budget: the manufacturing tier is $200 a user with a five-user minimum
- Anyone who needs dated purchase suggestions with lead-time offsets; MRP shows needs, and ordering is left to you
Pricing facts

Useful entry price
$200/user/month
Billing basis
Per user
Why the useful price is higher
Starter at $150 per user has no nested BOMs, lot and expiry tracking or finance integration on the pricing grid. Those start at Professional, $200 per user with a five-user minimum, so at least $1,000 a month.
What moves the real bill
- Priced per user. The monthly figure multiplies by every person who needs an account.
- Minimum 5 users. You cannot buy fewer seats than this, even if fewer people need access.

| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Accepts dated demandYou can tell it what is due and when, sales orders with dates, a forecast, or a production schedule. | Yes | MRP counts "QuickBooks Sales Orders (Estimates)" and scheduled consumption as outflows, and a forecast can be entered against a finished good with the date range it is active for.Reviewed October 9, 2026. | Nets against stock on handIt subtracts what you already have before telling you to buy more. | Yes | "DataNinja MRP aggregates forecasted inflow and outflow for each part", using "open inventory purchases, customer orders, scheduled/WIP manufacturing records, real-time inventory quantities, and part-specific safety stock levels".Reviewed October 9, 2026. | Counts incoming ordersIt knows about purchase orders and production orders already placed, so it does not tell you to order twice. | Yes | MRP inflows are "QuickBooks Purchase Orders" and "Scheduled Production"; the best-practices article warns that open purchases left open tell the system "you are expecting MORE inventory than reality".Reviewed October 9, 2026. | Uses lead timesIt works backwards from when you need something to when you must order or start it, using supplier and production lead times. | Partial | "Add vendor specific lead times so your QuickBooks PO's have an additional dimension -when the material will arrive." Lead time dates the arrival of an order; nothing shows it working back to an order-by date.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: docs.dataninja.com › Mrp(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Produces dated buy/make suggestionsThe output is an actionable list with dates, order this much by this date, start this batch on this date. | Partial | MRP shows "How much you can make and 2) When you will need to order more"; after checking downstream parts, "you can start ordering and scheduling production" yourself. No dated buy or make suggestions are described.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: docs.dataninja.com › Mrp(opens in a new tab); docs.dataninja.com › Forecast(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Capacity planningChecks whether your people and machines can do the work in the time available. | Partial | Production is scheduled onto a Production Plan calendar by date, time and quantity, with work centers on process steps. Editorial notes and cautions
Things we would want a friend to know before buying.
- Manufacturing features such as nested BOMs and lot tracking start at Professional on the pricing grid, and the full "MFG MRP", API and ecommerce integrations only at Enterprise.
Evidence and verification
Researched 2026-09-19 from the public documentation at docs.dataninja.com (MRP, MRP for Orders, MRP best practices, forecast, BOMs, scheduling, work centers, manufacturing records, quality, tracking types, shelf life, mock recall, QuickBooks entries, API) and the pricing page, whose feature grid was read from its tick icons. Passes four of the six planning tests: lead-time offsetting and dated suggestions are not established.

What we still want to confirm
We publish our gaps rather than hiding them. If you can point us at a first-party page for any of these, we will update the record and credit the correction.
- Find whether MRP gives an order-by date offset by lead time, or only an arrival date.
- Confirm whether Starter can run production at all, and the billing term.
- Find webhooks, a full data export and whether DataNinja keeps its own ledger for tenants without a finance integration.
- Confirm serial-number tracking beyond sublots.
Still unknown: webhooks, mcp support, full data export.
