Batch / process manufacturingProprietary SaaSPartially verified

Cloud production, inventory and sales software for wineries, cideries, breweries and distilleries. Recipes scale ingredients to a batch, operations trace blends and additives through vessels, packaging runs consume dry goods with lot codes, and a weekly stock schedule shows shortfalls and raises purchase orders with supplier lead times.

Why it is classified this way

We call this a Batch / process manufacturing product. Built around recipes or formulas, batch runs, and lot genealogy. May or may not include full time-phased planning.

It is not labeled Full MRP because we have not verified that it accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule; explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials; and produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. That is a statement about the evidence we found, not a claim that the product is weak, see the capability table and the sources below.

The six Full MRP tests, and how Vinsight does on each (3 of 6)
  1. YesIt represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula.Evidence: docs.vinsight.net › Creating a brew(opens in a new tab); docs.vinsight.net › Packaging operations(opens in a new tab)
  2. PartialIt accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.
  3. YesIt nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming.Evidence: docs.vinsight.net › Stock item movements schedule(opens in a new tab)
  4. PartialIt explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established. The schedule reads the additions planned on packaging operations: "You will get a report based on any Additions that are scheduled for use on any of Packaging Operations you have selected." Those materials are entered on each operation rather than exploded from a stored bill of materials. docs.vinsight.net › Stock item movements schedule(opens in a new tab)
  5. YesIt uses lead times or required dates.Evidence: docs.vinsight.net › Stock item movements schedule(opens in a new tab)
  6. PartialIt produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.

These rules are applied identically to every product and enforced at build time, a record cannot be published as Full MRP unless all six pass with a source attached. Read the methodology.

Best for

  • Small wineries, cideries and craft distillers who need to trace blends and additives through vessels for audits
  • Producers who file excise or WET tax and post to Xero
  • Beverage makers who want to see weekly packaging-material shortfalls and raise purchase orders with lead times

Not a fit when

  • Businesses on QuickBooks; the only accounting connection we found is Xero
  • Teams on the Starter plan who need stock levels; additive and finished stock tracking start at Basic
  • Makers outside beverages and food production, since the workflows are built around vessels, blends and bottling

Editorial notes and cautions

Things we would want a friend to know before buying.

  • Prices are per month in each country's version and currency, excluding tax, and extra users cost $59 each on the production app, so a five-person team on Basic pays $99 + 4 × $59 = $335 a month (our arithmetic).
  • Batch costing and lot codes per stock item start at Standard ($177); on Starter and Basic the help center suggests putting the lot code in the SKU.
  • The documentation leads with winery examples; breweries and distilleries have their own quick-start guides, while cider and other beverages are not covered separately.

Alternatives to Vinsight

An alternative is always an alternative for a reason. There is no universal replacement.

  • BrewwLower cost

Breww is priced on annual volume with unlimited users and starts lower, so a small brewery or cidery with several staff may pay less there than on Vinsight's per-user production plans.

Evidence and verification

Why this record is not Verified. Held at partially verified: the plan table renders only by script, and the planning evidence rests on a single help article; we want a second first-party source before promoting it.

Researched 2026-10-09. The price table loads by script, so plan prices and plan features were read from the rendered page. Capabilities come from the production app page, the Xero add-on page and the documentation site (stock movements schedule, packaging operations, recipes, expiry dates, lot codes, costing, purchase orders, Xero, Shopify, WooCommerce, API, webhooks).

What we still want to confirm

We publish our gaps rather than hiding them. If you can point us at a first-party page for any of these, we will update the record and credit the correction.

  • Confirm whether sales orders or forecasts feed the Stock Item Movements Schedule, or only planned operations.
  • Confirm whether packaged products can hold a stored bill of materials for bottles, closures and labels.
  • Confirm capacity planning, serial numbers and any MCP or full account export.

Still unknown: capacity planning, multi-level bom, routings & operations, serial numbers, mcp support.
