Zoho Inventory
by Zoho Corporation
Zoho's order and inventory system for small sellers, sold worldwide: composite items act as a bill of materials, an assembly consumes the components and adds the finished item to stock, batches carry expiry dates, and purchase orders, receives, Shopify and QuickBooks Online are built in. A free plan covers 50 orders a month; paid plans start at $29 a month billed annually.
Why it is classified this way
We call this a Light manufacturing product. Has bills of materials or recipes, consumes stock when you build, and tracks production, but time-phased planning is not verified.
It is not labeled Full MRP because we have not verified that it accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule; nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming; explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials; uses lead times or required dates; and produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. That is a statement about the evidence we found, not a claim that the product is weak, see the capability table and the sources below.

- PartialIt explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.Explosion happens one assembly at a time. From a sales order or invoice, "The required quantity of composite items that need to be assembled gets calculated automatically", and in the assembly "The items and services associated with the composite item will be auto-populated." Nothing turns open demand into component requirements across orders or ahead of time. zoho.com › Assemblies(opens in a new tab)

These rules are applied identically to every product and enforced at build time, a record cannot be published as Full MRP unless all six pass with a source attached. Read the methodology.
Best for
- Small sellers who assemble kits or simple products from bought-in parts and want the build to deduct components and add finished stock
- Businesses already on Zoho Books or QuickBooks Online that need composite items, purchase orders and storefront syncing without a separate manufacturing system
- Shops that can start on the Free plan and grow into Standard at $29 a month billed annually
Not a fit when
- Anyone who needs to be told what to buy and when; replenishment is reorder levels without dates, and only on the Enterprise plan
- Makers who need routings, operations, work-in-progress or shop-floor reporting; an assembly is a single step with no operations
- Batch and lot makers on a budget, since serial and batch tracking start at Premium, $79 a month billed annually

Replenishments: "When stock levels fall below a set threshold, replenishments will lists low-stock items under the Pending Replenishments section", against a Reorder Level and a Maximum Stock Level. In a sales order: "Whenever the quantity in demand is greater than the quantity available, you can use the Assemble Item option inside a sales order or an invoice to generate the required quantity of composite items on the fly." Editorial notes and cautions
Things we would want a friend to know before buying.
- This is Zoho Inventory, the worldwide product, not Zoho ERP, the India-only suite with its own record in this catalog. Neither record's evidence applies to the other.
- Manufacturing here is the composite-item assembly feature, not production orders. An assembly consumes components and adds the finished item in one step; there are no operations, routings, work-in-progress or shop-floor views.
- The Free plan's limits bite early for a maker: 50 orders, 50 invoices, 20 purchase orders and 20 bills a month, 1 user and 1 location, and no serial or batch tracking or webhooks. The order count includes every sales order, so a small storefront can pass 50 in a week.
- Serial and batch tracking, UoM conversion, stock counting and webhooks need Premium ($79 billed annually, $99 monthly); the Replenishment module that lists low-stock items is marked for Enterprise only, though reorder-level alerts are on every plan.
- Extra users are $7.5 a month billed annually ($9 monthly) and extra orders come in blocks of 500 at the same price, so a Standard shop with five people and 1,500 orders a month pays about $59 a month billed annually by our arithmetic.
Alternatives to Zoho Inventory
An alternative is always an alternative for a reason. There is no universal replacement.
Erplain's manufacturing orders carry routings, subcontracted steps and a computed assembly valuation, where Zoho Inventory's assembly is immediate and its composite item has a typed-in cost price.
Kladana adds production orders with routings, operation costs and a shop-floor app where Zoho Inventory stops at a one-step assembly, though its Production module is a $43-a-month add-on.
Evidence and verification
Why this record is not Verified. New record from one research pass on 2026-10-10. Held at partially verified until an editor re-reads the cited pages and the plan gating in the comparison table.
Researched 2026-10-10 from the US edition of zoho.com/inventory: the pricing page (yearly prices on the page, monthly prices read from its page data and confirmed on the pricing comparison page), the composite items feature page, twenty help-center articles and the API introduction and composite items pages. The help-center index page answers 403 to curl, so articles were fetched one by one from the sidebar links; the comparison table's checkmarks were read from its SVG icons rather than text.

What we still want to confirm
We publish our gaps rather than hiding them. If you can point us at a first-party page for any of these, we will update the record and credit the correction.
- Confirm whether a lead time exists on items, vendors or replenishment settings; no help page we read mentions one.
- Confirm whether assemblies appear in the Batch Transaction History, which lists invoices, transfer orders, bills and adjustments.
- Confirm whether an assembled composite item's cost is computed from its components or taken from the typed-in Cost Price.
- Resolve the API daily limits: the API introduction says Standard 2,000, Professional 5,000 and Premium 10,000 requests a day under older plan names, while the pricing comparison says Standard 2,500, Premium 7,500 and Plus 10,000.
- Confirm whether the Users, Orders and Locations add-ons can be bought on the Free plan.
- Confirm whether the Replenishment module is really Enterprise-only; the comparison table marks it so, and the help article does not mention a plan.
- Look for routings, operations, quality checks or an MCP server; none appears in the help center index we read.
Still unknown: uses lead times, capacity planning, routings & operations, shop-floor tracking, quality controls, mcp support.
