Genius ERP
by Genius Solutions
A manufacturing ERP for custom and engineer-to-order shops, joining CAD-driven bills of materials to production planning, purchasing, inventory, scheduling and accounting in one system.
Why it is classified this way
We call this a Manufacturing ERP product. A broad business system (accounting, sales, purchasing) with a substantial manufacturing or planning module attached.
It is not labeled Full MRP because we have not verified that it accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule; nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming; explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials; uses lead times or required dates; and produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. That is a statement about the evidence we found, not a claim that the product is weak, see the capability table and the sources below.
The six Full MRP tests, and how Genius ERP does on each (1 of 6)
- YesIt represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula.Evidence: geniuserp.com(opens in a new tab)
- UnknownIt accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule. Not established. No evidence found yet.
- PartialIt nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.
- UnknownIt explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials. Not established. No evidence found yet.
- UnknownIt uses lead times or required dates. Not established. No evidence found yet.
- UnknownIt produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. Not established. No evidence found yet.
These rules are applied identically to every product and enforced at build time, a record cannot be published as Full MRP unless all six pass with a source attached. Read the methodology.
Best for
- Engineer-to-order manufacturers where every job starts in CAD
- Shops in industrial machinery, moulds, tooling or pressure vessels
- Businesses wanting engineering, production and the ledger from one vendor
Not a fit when
- Small shops. The customer profile is small to mid-sized manufacturers, which starts well above a maker business
- Batch and recipe producers
- Anyone needing published pricing
Pricing facts
What it costs to do manufacturing in this product.
No published price
This vendor does not publish pricing, so you cannot compare it against anything here without contacting them. We will not estimate a figure.
What moves the real bill
- No published price. You have to contact the vendor, which usually means a sales call.
Pricing detail
No pricing published; the site offers a "Get pricing" contact route. Expect an enterprise sales and implementation process. The site's pricing calculator is not a Genius price: it asks for your name, company and business email before it shows anything, emails the result, and describes itself as "a general pricing estimate" where "The prices are approximate estimates based on industry standards". Checked 2026-09-18.
Checked on September 18, 2026. No first-party pricing page recorded. Prices change. Check before you buy.
Manufacturing capability
14 of 25 fields resolved. "Unknown" means we have not found first-party evidence. It is not a No.
Planning
Working out what to buy or make, and when.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Accepts dated demandYou can tell it what is due and when, sales orders with dates, a forecast, or a production schedule. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation showing demand records that carry a required or due date.Know the answer? |
| Nets against stock on handIt subtracts what you already have before telling you to buy more. | Partial | The inventory page says Genius "simplifies procurement by automatically generating purchase suggestions based on real-time inventory levels and upcoming job demands", and flags shortages when a job is released. Partial because the same page frames replenishment as reorder points and min-max settings, and no requirements calculation is documented. Marketing copy, not product documentation.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: geniuserp.com › Inventory control(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Counts incoming ordersIt knows about purchase orders and production orders already placed, so it does not tell you to order twice. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation showing open purchase or production orders included in the supply picture.Know the answer? |
| Uses lead timesIt works backwards from when you need something to when you must order or start it, using supplier and production lead times. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation showing lead time fields that shift a suggested order or start date.Know the answer? |
| Produces dated buy/make suggestionsThe output is an actionable list with dates, order this much by this date, start this batch on this date. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation or a screenshot of replenishment or planning suggestions carrying dates.Know the answer? |
| Capacity planningChecks whether your people and machines can do the work in the time available. | Yes | The vendor states: "Schedule work centers, personnel, required parts and tools based on your BOM, actual workload and capacity to align your entire company and ensure everyone is worksking on the right priorities at the right time." From the vendor's production management feature page. Checked 2026-09-14.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: geniuserp.com › Production management(opens in a new tab)Question this |
Production
Recipes, bills of materials, and running the work.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Bill of materialsA list of the parts and quantities needed to make one of something. | Yes | CAD2BOM generates the bill of materials from engineering data rather than requiring re-entry.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: geniuserp.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Multi-level BOMSub-assemblies inside assemblies, a part that is itself made from other parts, nested as deep as you need. | Yes | "Create and manage unlimited BOM levels" is in the key-feature list on the CAD2BOM page, which also mentions multi-level BOMs directly.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: geniuserp.com › Cad2bom engineering(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Recipes & formulasBatch-style production by weight, volume, or percentage, including scaling a batch up or down. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation of recipe or formula records, ideally with batch scaling.Know the answer? |
| Work / manufacturing ordersA record authorising and tracking the making of a specific quantity. | Yes | The current production page says you can "check work-order completion and track costs for each job in your shop or on-site". In a vendor demo (2015 video), the presenter says "I'm moving now to the work order management screen" and shows costs collecting on an open job. No current work order screens are shown publicly, so ask to see them in a demo.Source: geniuserp.com › Production management(opens in a new tab); Vendor video, 2015, at 4:07(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Routings & operationsThe ordered steps a product goes through, and which machine or station does each one. | Yes | The CAD2BOM page says: "Use CAD2BOM to deliver a fully itemized Bill of Manufacturing with routing steps and work instructions, ready for procurement and production." The same page lists controlling routings at the CAD level. This is a marketing feature page; Genius publishes no public manual.Reviewed October 9, 2026. | Shop-floor trackingOperators report progress, time, and completions as the work happens. | Yes | Shop-floor control with real-time visibility is a stated capability.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: geniuserp.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Quality controlsChecks, tests, holds, and non-conformance records tied to production or receiving. | Yes | Quality control is listed among the engineering and production features.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: geniuserp.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
Inventory & traceability
Knowing what you hold and being able to trace it.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Batch & lot traceabilityWhich incoming material lots went into which finished batch, and where those finished goods went. | Partial | The inventory page's key features include "Track by serial number or lot", and the quality page mentions lot and serial traceability. Partial because no public page shows a lot being followed from the materials consumed into the finished goods. This is marketing copy, not product documentation, so ask to see lot genealogy in a demo.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: geniuserp.com › Inventory control(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Expiry & shelf lifeBest-before dates on materials and finished goods, with warnings before they lapse. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation of expiry, best-before, or shelf-life date fields.Know the answer? |
| Serial numbersUnique identifiers on individual units, for warranty or field service. | Yes | The inventory page says: "Genius provides powerful ERP inventory management tools that let you track inventory down to the serial number and assign material statuses."Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: geniuserp.com › Inventory control(opens in a new tab)Question this |
Commerce & accounting
Costs, purchasing, storefronts, and the books.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Product costing & COGSWhat it costs you to make one, and the cost of the goods you sold. | Yes | Job costing is listed across the production planning feature set.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: geniuserp.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| PurchasingRaising and tracking purchase orders to suppliers from inside the system. | Yes | Purchasing is a core feature under production planning.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: geniuserp.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Accounting connectionSends financial data to bookkeeping software, or includes its own general ledger. | Yes | The vendor describes managing "your entire operation, from quoting and production to inventory, purchasing, and accounting".Reviewed October 9, 2026. | Ecommerce connectionPulls orders and pushes stock levels to a storefront or marketplace. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation of a named storefront or marketplace integration.Know the answer? |
Openness & your data
Getting data in, out, and away if you leave.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| APIA documented programming interface so other software can read and write your data. | Yes | Genius has a REST API: "REST API is the intermediary between Genius ERP and other software programs and gives you the flexibility to connect to the programs and applications you need to get the job done right." There is no public API reference, so what it covers is not known.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: geniuserp.com › Rest api(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| WebhooksThe system can notify other software the moment something changes. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation of outbound webhooks or event subscriptions.Know the answer? |

Editorial notes and cautions
Things we would want a friend to know before buying.
- The vendor's website uses the term MRP only in generic FAQ definitions, though a promotional video (2019 video) says you can "generate jobs and launch the MRP to manage material work centers and labor requirements". No demo we found shows that calculation, so we have left the dated planning fields unknown rather than assuming.
- CAD-driven BOM generation is the real differentiator here, and it only matters if your products originate as CAD models.
Evidence and verification
Evidence comes from the vendor's home page and feature pages (production management, CAD2BOM, inventory control, REST API) and two older vendor videos (2015 and 2019). These are marketing pages; Genius publishes no public manual. The 2019 promotional video says you can "generate jobs and launch the MRP to manage material work centers and labor requirements"; it names an MRP run but does not show one. Feature naming is high-level, so several capability fields, including most of the planning ones, remain unknown.

What we still want to confirm
We publish our gaps rather than hiding them. If you can point us at a first-party page for any of these, we will update the record and credit the correction.
- Still open: how the MRP run the vendor names actually works. A 2019 promotional video mentions it, but no public page describes the calculation, dated output or lead-time offsetting, and Genius Academy and the customer hub need a login. Needs a demo.
- Still open: a real price, which needs a sales quote. The site's pricing calculator is email-gated and gives a general industry estimate, not a Genius price.
- Still open: see the current work order screens and lot genealogy in a demo. Routings, lots and work orders are now stated on current feature pages, but those are marketing pages and Genius publishes no public manual.
Still unknown: accepts dated demand, counts incoming orders, uses lead times, produces dated buy/make suggestions, recipes & formulas, expiry & shelf life, ecommerce connection, webhooks, mcp support, csv export, full data export.
