Infor VISUAL
by Infor
An order-driven manufacturing ERP for small and midsize discrete shops: MRP and a Material Planning Window that nets supply against demand by date, finite-capacity scheduling, engineering masters that combine BOM and routing, labour tickets, lot and serial trace, and its own ledger, documented in public user guides.
Why it is classified this way
We call this a Manufacturing ERP product. A broad business system (accounting, sales, purchasing) with a substantial manufacturing or planning module attached.
This product meets our Full MRP tests, but we classify it by its center of gravity rather than its planning engine alone. The capability table below shows the detail.
The six Full MRP tests, and how Infor VISUAL does on each (6 of 6)
- YesIt represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula.Evidence: docs.infor.com › VISUALMANUFACTURING.pdf(opens in a new tab)
- YesIt accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule.Evidence: docs.infor.com › VISUALINVENTORY.pdf(opens in a new tab)
- YesIt nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming.Evidence: docs.infor.com › VISUALINVENTORY.pdf(opens in a new tab)
- YesIt explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials.Evidence: docs.infor.com › VISUALINVENTORY.pdf(opens in a new tab)For master-scheduled parts the guide says the net supply calculation "needs exercise at all levels of manufacture, starting at the finished goods level, and continuing all the way to the component piece part level", and MRP generates planned orders where supply falls short. Work-order operations create demand for their materials.
- YesIt uses lead times or required dates.Evidence: docs.infor.com › VISUALINVENTORY.pdf(opens in a new tab)
- YesIt produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations.Evidence: docs.infor.com › VISUALINVENTORY.pdf(opens in a new tab)
These rules are applied identically to every product and enforced at build time, a record cannot be published as Full MRP unless all six pass with a source attached. Read the methodology.
Best for
- Order-driven discrete manufacturers and job shops that want MRP and finite scheduling in one system
- Shops that need lot and serial trace from receiving to shipment, as an add-on module
- Buyers who want to read the user guides before a demo; they are public on docs.infor.com
Not a fit when
- Small shops that want a published price and a self-serve start
- Batch and formula producers; recipes are not described in the guides we read
Pricing facts
What it costs to do manufacturing in this product.
No published price
This vendor does not publish pricing, so you cannot compare it against anything here without contacting them. We will not estimate a figure.
What moves the real bill
- No published price. You have to contact the vendor, which usually means a sales call.
Pricing detail
No price is published. The VISUAL product page ends in a form asking a business development representative to contact you, so cost is quoted. The guides describe separately licensed modules (Part Traceability, repetitive manufacturing for the Advanced planning mode, multi-site), so the quote depends on which ones you take.

Manufacturing capability
19 of 25 fields resolved. "Unknown" means we have not found first-party evidence. It is not a No.
Planning
Working out what to buy or make, and when.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Accepts dated demandYou can tell it what is due and when, sales orders with dates, a forecast, or a production schedule. | Yes | In the Material Planning Window a demand order "is either a work order or a customer order line", and forecasts and master production schedules are maintained per part.Reviewed September 19, 2026. Source: docs.infor.com › VISUALINVENTORY.pdf(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Nets against stock on handIt subtracts what you already have before telling you to buy more. | Yes | "Material Netting is the process of comparing demand and supply at given points and projecting a net balance and possible exceptions." MRP nets usable on-hand stock and can deduct safety stock.Reviewed September 19, 2026. Source: docs.infor.com › VISUALINVENTORY.pdf(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Counts incoming ordersIt knows about purchase orders and production orders already placed, so it does not tell you to order twice. | Yes | "A supply order is a purchase order or work order that produces a supply of the part", and supply orders are aligned against demand when netting.Reviewed September 19, 2026. Source: docs.infor.com › VISUALINVENTORY.pdf(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Uses lead timesIt works backwards from when you need something to when you must order or start it, using supplier and production lead times. | Yes | "A part's lead time is considered when suggested release dates are formulated." The scheduler also uses a material's lead time when supply is short.Reviewed September 19, 2026. Source: docs.infor.com › VISUALINVENTORY.pdf(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Produces dated buy/make suggestionsThe output is an actionable list with dates, order this much by this date, start this batch on this date. | Yes | The netting columns show the projected quantity, any exception, and "a suggested release date for a new supply order". MRP generates planned orders that you firm or release.Reviewed September 19, 2026. Source: docs.infor.com › VISUALINVENTORY.pdf(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Capacity planningChecks whether your people and machines can do the work in the time available. | Yes | The Concurrent Scheduler "supports two types of schedule: Finite and Infinite capacity"; a finite schedule uses the capacity defined for each shop resource.Reviewed September 19, 2026. Production
Recipes, bills of materials, and running the work.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Bill of materialsA list of the parts and quantities needed to make one of something. | Yes | "Engineering masters are a combined bill of material and routing", used as the basis for work orders.Reviewed September 19, 2026. Source: docs.infor.com › VISUALMANUFACTURING.pdf(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Multi-level BOMSub-assemblies inside assemblies, a part that is itself made from other parts, nested as deep as you need. | Yes | Masters and work orders "can have a number of subassembly legs", each with its own operations and materials.Reviewed September 19, 2026. Source: docs.infor.com › VISUALMANUFACTURING.pdf(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Recipes & formulasBatch-style production by weight, volume, or percentage, including scaling a batch up or down. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation of recipe or formula records, ideally with batch scaling.Know the answer? |
| Work / manufacturing ordersA record authorising and tracking the making of a specific quantity. | Yes | Work orders are built from the part's engineering master and can also be placed from the Material Planning Window.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: docs.infor.com › VISUALMANUFACTURING.pdf(opens in a new tab); docs.infor.com › VISUALINVENTORY.pdf(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Routings & operationsThe ordered steps a product goes through, and which machine or station does each one. | Yes | Each engineering master holds the operations for the part, with resources, setup and run times.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: docs.infor.com › VISUALMANUFACTURING.pdf(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Shop-floor trackingOperators report progress, time, and completions as the work happens. | Yes | Labor Ticket Entry records setup and run hours and completed quantities per operation, which is how the system knows current shop status. The product page adds mobile labour and material capture.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Editorial notes and cautions
Things we would want a friend to know before buying.
- The user guides are public downloads, but each carries a notice that its content is confidential to licensed customers. We link to them and quote only a few words.
- Part Traceability and the Advanced planning mode (repetitive manufacturing) are separately licensed modules, so check they are in your quote.
- The guides cover release 11.0 and 11.1. We found no statement on the product page about a vendor-hosted cloud edition.
Evidence and verification
Researched 2026-09-19 from Infor's public VISUAL 11 user guides (Inventory and Manufacturing 11.1.0, Ledger 11.1.0, Purchasing 11.0.0, Concepts and Common Features 11.1.0) and the product page. All six Full MRP tests pass on the guides. The earlier record pointed at an Infor URL that now returns 404; the product page is infor.com/products/visual. Pricing is quote-only.
