Orkyo
by Orkyo
Operational scheduling for workstations, people and equipment across sites, with an AGPL-licensed community edition. Its own documentation is emphatic that it is not an ERP, MES or CMMS and is not trying to become one.
Beta, not generally available
Early access. The vendor states that production use is currently available to selected design partners only, and the community edition describes itself as pre-1.0 and under active development, with no support SLA. Treat this as software you can evaluate rather than depend on.
Why it is classified this way
We call this a Planning / APS product. A forecasting, constraint-planning, or scheduling engine that normally sits on top of another system that holds your transactions.
It is not labeled Full MRP because we have not verified that it represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula; accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule; nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming; explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials; uses lead times or required dates; and produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. That is a statement about the evidence we found, not a claim that the product is weak, see the capability table and the sources below.
The six Full MRP tests, and how Orkyo does on each (0 of 6)
- NoIt represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula.Does not meet this test. First-party evidence shows it does not do this.
- UnknownIt accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule. Not established. No evidence found yet.

These rules are applied identically to every product and enforced at build time, a record cannot be published as Full MRP unless all six pass with a source attached. Read the methodology.
Best for
- Teams currently coordinating shared machines and people through spreadsheets and email
- Shops running multiple sites that need one view of who and what is booked
- Anyone wanting a free self-hosted scheduling layer alongside an existing system
Not a fit when
- Anyone looking for MRP, inventory or BOMs. The project explicitly excludes all three
- Production use today, unless you are a selected design partner
- Businesses needing a support SLA

|---|---|---|
| Accepts dated demandYou can tell it what is due and when, sales orders with dates, a forecast, or a production schedule. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation showing demand records that carry a required or due date.Know the answer? |
| Nets against stock on handIt subtracts what you already have before telling you to buy more. | No | "Orkyo does not track stock levels, consumables, spare parts, tool wear, or maintenance work orders." With no stock record, there is nothing to net demand against. This is inferred from the vendor's scope page rather than stated about this feature directly.Reviewed October 9, 2026. | Counts incoming ordersIt knows about purchase orders and production orders already placed, so it does not tell you to order twice. | No | "No bills of material, purchasing, invoicing, payroll, or accounting." With no purchasing and no stock records, there is no incoming supply to count against demand. | Uses lead timesIt works backwards from when you need something to when you must order or start it, using supplier and production lead times. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation showing lead time fields that shift a suggested order or start date.Know the answer? |
| Produces dated buy/make suggestionsThe output is an actionable list with dates, order this much by this date, start this batch on this date. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation or a screenshot of replenishment or planning suggestions carrying dates.Know the answer? |
| Capacity planningChecks whether your people and machines can do the work in the time available. | Partial | Utilization tracking and conflict detection across resources, with capability matching for people. Production
Recipes, bills of materials, and running the work.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |

| Recipes & formulasBatch-style production by weight, volume, or percentage, including scaling a batch up or down. | No | "No bills of material, purchasing, invoicing, payroll, or accounting." | Routings & operationsThe ordered steps a product goes through, and which machine or station does each one. | Partial | The vendor states: "Draw the dependencies between the tasks of a job and Orkyo holds each one until the work it waits for is done. A task can wait for all of its predecessors, for any one of them, or for a number you choose — so a delivery from either supplier releases the next step. Canceled work drops out of the condition instead of blocking the job forever." Task dependencies within a job are supported. Reusable routings with operations assigned to stations are not described. | Shop-floor trackingOperators report progress, time, and completions as the work happens. | No | "Orkyo does not drive machines, collect signals from the floor, dispatch work to terminals, or track operation-by-operation progress." Its drag-and-drop board plans the work; recording it as it happens stays with your floor.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: orkyo.com › What orkyo is not(opens in a new tab)Question this |

About the licence
The Community Edition is AGPL-3.0. You may self-host and modify it, but must publish modifications if you offer it as a network service. The managed cloud service is a separate commercial offering, which makes this open core.

Editorial notes and cautions
Things we would want a friend to know before buying.
- "Orkyo is focused on operational scheduling — it is not an ERP, MES, or CMMS, and doesn't try to be." We wish more vendors wrote sentences like that. It is the reason this record was quick to classify and easy to trust on scope.
- Early access with production limited to design partners is a real constraint, not a marketing formality. Do not plan a rollout around it yet.
- The community repository is small (a couple of GitHub stars), so treat continuity risk as high and keep your data exportable.
Evidence and verification
License and scope taken from the community repository, which is unusually clear about what the project does not do. Scheduling capabilities are held at partial because the product is in early access. The No answers come from the vendor's own scope page, and the API, MCP and export fields from its documentation.

What we still want to confirm
We publish our gaps rather than hiding them. If you can point us at a first-party page for any of these, we will update the record and credit the correction.
- Re-check status when general availability is announced. On 2026-09-18 the site still said "Production use is currently available to selected Design Partners only." and both paid tiers were marked coming soon.
- Get the Professional tier price once it is published. The pricing page marks it coming soon (Founding Design Partners pay no license fee for their term), and Enterprise is on request.
Still unknown: accepts dated demand, uses lead times, produces dated buy/make suggestions, quality controls, product costing & cogs, ecommerce connection, webhooks.
