Alternatives to Katana

There is no single replacement for Katana, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. What there is: products that beat it on one specific thing. Each section below answers a different reason for switching, so start with the reason that applies to you.

For context, Katana is a full mrp product. Strong production control with documented MRP planning; paid pricing is quote-only since 2026-10, last published at $299 plus $199 for manufacturing. Its weakest points, in our reading, are: anyone who needs a published price above the free tier: the only paid plan is custom-priced on an annual contract, and buyers who need a written price for mrp planning before a sales call. the page no longer prices anything but the free plan, and the help center still calls planning an add-on.

    • Shops that have outgrown reorder alerts and need to know the last safe date to place an order
    • Small discrete manufacturers running multi-level BOMs with routings and operations
    • Anyone who wants the planning maths written down in a public manual rather than hidden behind a demo

MRPeasy documents all six of our planning tests and includes planning on its $49-per-user Starter plan. Katana documents all six too, but its only paid plan, Advantage, is custom-priced on an annual contract and the planning add-on is not confirmed in it.

Before you switch anything

  • · Check the export path out of your current system before you commit to the next one.
  • · Price the new system for your real team size and the modules you need, not the headline tier.
  • · Migration is usually the expensive part, and almost nobody budgets for it.
