BUSY
by BUSY Infotech
Indian GST accounting software whose BUSY 21 Standard and Enterprise editions add multi-level BOMs, production orders, material issue and consumption, WIP and finished stock, batch and expiry records and product costing. Restocking is by critical stock level; nothing dates purchases from demand.
Why it is classified this way
We call this a Manufacturing ERP product. A broad business system (accounting, sales, purchasing) with a substantial manufacturing or planning module attached.
It is not labeled Full MRP because we have not verified that it accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule; nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming; explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials; uses lead times or required dates; and produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. That is a statement about the evidence we found, not a claim that the product is weak, see the capability table and the sources below.
The six Full MRP tests, and how BUSY does on each (1 of 6)
- YesIt represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula.Evidence: busy.in › Manufacturing(opens in a new tab); busy.in › Pricing(opens in a new tab); busy.in › Food processing(opens in a new tab); busy.in › Cosmetics(opens in a new tab)
- PartialIt accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.
- PartialIt nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.
- PartialIt explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established. One planned quantity is exploded through the BOM: "Enter the required production quantity, and BUSY helps identify the ingredients and packaging materials required for the batch", and BOMs are multi-level. There is no planning run that turns dated sales demand into component requirements. busy.in › Cosmetics(opens in a new tab); busy.in › Manufacturing(opens in a new tab)
- UnknownIt uses lead times or required dates. Not established. No evidence found yet.
- PartialIt produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.
These rules are applied identically to every product and enforced at build time, a record cannot be published as Full MRP unless all six pass with a source attached. Read the methodology.
Best for
- Indian makers who want GST billing, e-way bills and the ledger in the same system as their BOMs and production entries
- Small food, cosmetics and packaged-goods units that record batches with manufacturing and expiry dates on every production run
- Owners who prefer a one-time license on their own Windows PC to a monthly subscription
Not a fit when
- Anyone outside India: prices are in rupees and the compliance features are built around GST
- Shops that need dated buy or make suggestions from demand; planning here is a shortage report for a planned batch and critical stock levels
- Teams wanting routings, work centers, operator time or quality inspections, none of which the pages describe
- Buyers who need a documented API; integration goes through channel partners

Pricing detail
BUSY 21 Basic, Standard and Enterprise are "perpetual BUSY 21 plans". Single-user: Basic ₹11,000, Standard ₹16,500, Enterprise ₹22,000. Multi-user pack: Standard ₹40,000, Enterprise ₹58,000; each additional user count ₹10,500 (Standard) or ₹14,500 (Enterprise). The pricing page does not say how many users the multi-user pack covers. "*GST to be added to the price". Only Standard and Enterprise list "BOM / Production Planning", "Production Variance Report" and "Batch-wise Inventory with Mfg. / Expiry Date"; Basic has neither. Every license carries a 360-day BUSY License Subscription (BLS); when it lapses "the licensed software remains active and your existing data is not lost, but new releases, updates, support and BLS-linked services including connected GST functions become unavailable". BLS renewal for 360 days: Standard ₹6,500 single-user, ₹14,000 multi-user, ₹4,000 per additional count; Enterprise ₹7,500, ₹17,000 and ₹4,500. Standard and Enterprise also come in an SQL variant whose price the page shows behind a toggle we could not read. BUSY Online, the vendor-hosted remote desktop, is separate at ₹10,800 per 360 days (Access) or ₹16,800 (SQL), plus ₹7,200 or ₹13,200 per additional company, excluding GST. The mobile app is free for the first year, then ₹3,600 a year (₹2,700 when bought with the BLS renewal). BUSY Magic (Start ₹5,000, Smart ₹8,000, Power ₹12,000, Power+ ₹50,000 per 360 days) is "subscription-only" and lists "Production / unassemble" and "Job-work" under "Upcoming Features" on Power, so it is not yet the manufacturing offering. The older BUSY 21 subscription editions Blue, Saffron and Emerald "must be renewed annually"; Blue "was discontinued on 15th September 2026". "Additional users or companies, implementation and customisation are extra." A 15-day trial is offered. We do not convert the purchase price into a monthly rate.

Manufacturing capability
19 of 25 fields resolved. "Unknown" means we have not found first-party evidence. It is not a No.
Planning
Working out what to buy or make, and when.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Accepts dated demandYou can tell it what is due and when, sales orders with dates, a forecast, or a production schedule. | Partial | Production orders can be tied to sales: "Make production orders and link them to customer orders". No page says sales-order dates or a forecast drive the material plan.Reviewed October 10, 2026. Source: busy.in › Manufacturing(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Nets against stock on handIt subtracts what you already have before telling you to buy more. | Partial | "The Production Planning Report checks the material required for planned production against available stock. This helps you identify shortages before production starts." It compares one planned quantity with stock on hand; nothing nets open demand across time.Reviewed October 10, 2026. Source: busy.in › Manufacturing(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Counts incoming ordersIt knows about purchase orders and production orders already placed, so it does not tell you to order twice. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation showing open purchase or production orders included in the supply picture.Know the answer? |
| Uses lead timesIt works backwards from when you need something to when you must order or start it, using supplier and production lead times. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation showing lead time fields that shift a suggested order or start date.Know the answer? |
| Produces dated buy/make suggestionsThe output is an actionable list with dates, order this much by this date, start this batch on this date. | Partial | The planning report is a shortage list, not a dated plan: "Anything short appears immediately so you can raise a purchase order the same morning." Reorder is by "Critical Level" thresholds that warn or block a transaction.Reviewed October 10, 2026. On the vendor's roadmap
The vendor's own account of what is coming, dated. A plan changes nothing in the table above, which records what we saw working.
- The pricing page lists "Production / unassemble" and "Job-work" under "Upcoming Features" for the BUSY Magic Power subscription plan. Vendor statement, October 10, 2026.

Editorial notes and cautions
Things we would want a friend to know before buying.
- Sold in India in rupees, excluding GST, with GST returns, e-invoices and e-way bills at the center of the accounting. The site also lists South Asia and Global tabs, but every price we read is the India price.
- Basic, Standard and Enterprise are perpetual licenses with a 360-day BUSY License Subscription (BLS) included; after it lapses the software keeps running but updates, support and the connected GST functions stop until you renew (₹6,500 a year for Standard single-user). BUSY Magic (Start, Smart, Power, Power+) is subscription-only and switches to demo mode when it expires, and its production features are listed as upcoming, so the BUSY 21 Standard or Enterprise perpetual license is the one with BOM and production today.
- Most of the evidence is marketing pages (the manufacturing, cosmetics and food pages) rather than documentation. The batch, serial and reorder pages and the support FAQ are step-by-step and were read, but no manual covers the BOM and production screens.
- Only Standard and Enterprise carry BOM and production; Basic does not, and Express, the free edition, has no production or batch tracking at all.
Alternatives to BUSY
An alternative is always an alternative for a reason. There is no universal replacement.
Zoho ERP is the other India-priced product in the catalog: cloud-hosted and sold per user from five seats, where BUSY is a desktop license that starts at one user.
Evidence and verification
Why this record is not Verified. Held at partially verified: every BOM, production order and planning claim rests on industry marketing pages. Only the batch, serial, reorder and data export claims come from step-by-step pages. A manual, help document or demo of the production screens would clear this.
Researched 2026-10-10 from the pricing, BUSY 21 pricing, license renewal and BUSY Online pricing pages, the manufacturing, cosmetics and food processing industry pages, the inventory, batch and expiry, serial number and reorder feature pages, and the support FAQ on integration and data export, all read from the page HTML. No product manual or help document for the BOM and production screens was found on the site, and the YouTube channel was not watched.

What we still want to confirm
We publish our gaps rather than hiding them. If you can point us at a first-party page for any of these, we will update the record and credit the correction.
- Find documentation or a demo of the BOM, production order and Production Planning Report screens; every production claim rests on industry marketing pages.
- Confirm how many users the Standard and Enterprise multi-user packs cover, and the price of the SQL variants, which the pricing page shows behind toggles our HTML read did not expand.
- Check whether the planning report considers open purchase orders, lead times or sales-order dates.
- Check whether a finished batch records which ingredient batches it consumed.
- Check routings, operator or machine time, capacity and quality inspection support.
- Get the API documentation, if any, from BUSY or a channel partner; the FAQ says an API exists but needs a third-party application.
Still unknown: counts incoming orders, uses lead times, capacity planning, quality controls, webhooks, mcp support.
