Fulcrum
by Fulcrum
Cloud manufacturing software for precision CNC and sheet-metal shops, built around automatic scheduling that continuously reoptimizes from live production data, with capable-to-promise quoting and real-time job costing.
Why it is classified this way
We call this a Manufacturing ERP product. A broad business system (accounting, sales, purchasing) with a substantial manufacturing or planning module attached.
This product meets our Full MRP tests, but we classify it by its center of gravity rather than its planning engine alone. The capability table below shows the detail.
The six Full MRP tests, and how Fulcrum does on each (6 of 6)
- YesIt represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula.Evidence: fulcrumpro.com(opens in a new tab)
- YesIt accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule.Evidence: api-docs.fulcrumpro.com › ChangeLog(opens in a new tab)
- YesIt nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming.Evidence: api.fulcrumpro.com › Swagger.json(opens in a new tab); Vendor video, 2023, at 0:53(opens in a new tab); Vendor video, 2023, at 1:28(opens in a new tab)
- YesIt explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials.Evidence: fulcrumpro.com › Updates to purchasing planning(opens in a new tab)Purchasing Planning works from job material demand: the Order by Date filter "shows the items that need to be ordered by that day so can be received in time for the job. This accounts for vendor lead time." That is one level of explosion, from a job to its materials. How deep sub-assembly demand propagates is not documented on this page.
- YesIt uses lead times or required dates.Evidence: fulcrumpro.com › Updates to purchasing planning(opens in a new tab); api-docs.fulcrumpro.com › ChangeLog(opens in a new tab); Vendor video, 2023, at 0:53(opens in a new tab)
- YesIt produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations.Evidence: fulcrumpro.com › Updates to purchasing planning(opens in a new tab); Vendor video, 2023, at 1:51(opens in a new tab)
These rules are applied identically to every product and enforced at build time, a record cannot be published as Full MRP unless all six pass with a source attached. Read the methodology.
Best for
- Precision CNC and sheet-metal shops where scheduling is the bottleneck
- Shops needing AS9100D or ISO 9001 readiness
- Teams that want to promise realistic dates at quote time rather than hope
Not a fit when
- Batch and recipe producers
- Small shops needing a published price
- Anyone who wants to evaluate without a demo
Pricing facts
What it costs to do manufacturing in this product.
No published price
This vendor does not publish pricing, so you cannot compare it against anything here without contacting them. We will not estimate a figure.
What moves the real bill
- No published price. You have to contact the vendor, which usually means a sales call.
Pricing detail
No pricing is published today; expect a demo-led sales process. Fulcrum did publish annual prices in 2025: three tiers from $16,250 to $32,500 a year depending on revenue band, plus a fixed implementation fee of $10,968 or $14,625. That page has since been taken down (it returned 404 on 2026-09-18), so treat those figures as history, not a quote.
Price history
- Revenue-banded annual pricing: Base $16,250, Core $24,375 and Pro $32,500 a year billed annually, plus fixed-fee implementation of $10,968 (Base and Core) or $14,625 (Pro). Archived page, March 26, 2025(opens in a new tab)
- Same figures on the /pricing-fulcrum page: Base $16,250, Core $24,375 and Pro $32,500 a year, implementation $10,968 or $14,625; the last archived capture with prices. Archived page, September 16, 2025(opens in a new tab)

Manufacturing capability
23 of 25 fields resolved. "Unknown" means we have not found first-party evidence. It is not a No.
Planning
Working out what to buy or make, and when.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Accepts dated demandYou can tell it what is due and when, sales orders with dates, a forecast, or a production schedule. | Yes | Sales orders carry delivery due dates and a calculated ship-by date. The API changelog says: "Added calculated shipByDate to Sales Order Get, List, and Update responses — the earliest ship-by date across the order's non-cancelled shipments, falling back to the earliest delivery due date minus the customer's shipping lead time." This is documented for the API; we have not seen how the scheduler uses these dates.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: api-docs.fulcrumpro.com › ChangeLog(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Nets against stock on handIt subtracts what you already have before telling you to buy more. | Yes | Fulcrum's API reference describes an availability figure per item: "Returns quantity available by item. This is the on hand + incoming supply - demand." In a 2023 vendor demo of Purchasing Planning, recommendations are built from on-hand stock, open-job demand, minimums and incoming purchase orders: "based on all that information we're making a recommendation on what you should buy". It is one available quantity per item, not a net requirement by date.Source: api.fulcrumpro.com › Swagger.json(opens in a new tab); Vendor video, 2023, at 0:53(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Counts incoming ordersIt knows about purchase orders and production orders already placed, so it does not tell you to order twice. | Yes | The API availability figure adds incoming supply: "Returns quantity available by item. This is the on hand + incoming supply - demand." In a 2023 vendor demo of Demand Planning, the presenter points to "one incoming purchase order or job", so open purchase orders and jobs both count as incoming supply.Source: api.fulcrumpro.com › Swagger.json(opens in a new tab); Vendor video, 2023, at 1:28(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Uses lead timesIt works backwards from when you need something to when you must order or start it, using supplier and production lead times. | Yes | Since a January 2024 product update, Purchasing Planning works out an order-by date from when the job needs the material and the vendor's lead time: "This filter shows the items that need to be ordered by that day so can be received in time for the job. This accounts for vendor lead time." Sales orders also get a ship-by date set back by the customer's shipping lead time, per the API changelog.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com › Updates to purchasing planning(opens in a new tab); api-docs.fulcrumpro.com › ChangeLog(opens in a new tab); Vendor video, 2023, at 0:53(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Produces dated buy/make suggestionsThe output is an actionable list with dates, order this much by this date, start this batch on this date. | Yes | Purchase recommendations are filtered by a date the system works out, per a January 2024 product update: "The "End Date" filter is now called "Order by Date."" The same update adds tooltips explaining how order dates are calculated. In 2023 vendor demos, job recommendations from Demand Planning also carry an editable due date. This rests on product-update posts and demos; we have not seen a screenshot of the order-by column in the grid.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com › Updates to purchasing planning(opens in a new tab); Vendor video, 2023, at 1:51(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Capacity planningChecks whether your people and machines can do the work in the time available. | Yes | Autoschedule "continually parses your production data and creates the most optimal schedule". Scheduling is the product's center of gravity rather than a bolt-on.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
Production
Recipes, bills of materials, and running the work.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Bill of materialsA list of the parts and quantities needed to make one of something. | Yes | A builder and AI uploader create bills of materials and routing specifications.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Multi-level BOMSub-assemblies inside assemblies, a part that is itself made from other parts, nested as deep as you need. | Yes | In a 2024 vendor demo of the BOM and routing editor, adding a made part to a bill "will pull in all of the subassemblies and sub components" along with their routing steps.Source: Vendor video, 2024, at 1:53(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Recipes & formulasBatch-style production by weight, volume, or percentage, including scaling a batch up or down. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation of recipe or formula records, ideally with batch scaling.Know the answer? |
| Work / manufacturing ordersA record authorising and tracking the making of a specific quantity. | Yes | Jobs are tracked with live instructions and live data on the floor.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Routings & operationsThe ordered steps a product goes through, and which machine or station does each one. | Yes | Routing specifications are created alongside bills of materials and drive the schedule.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Shop-floor trackingOperators report progress, time, and completions as the work happens. | Yes | Job tracking with live instructions delivered to the floor.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Quality controlsChecks, tests, holds, and non-conformance records tied to production or receiving. | Yes | Described as AS9100D and ISO 9001 ready.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
Inventory & traceability
Knowing what you hold and being able to trace it.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Batch & lot traceabilityWhich incoming material lots went into which finished batch, and where those finished goods went. | Yes | Consumed material lots can be traced to the job and its finished goods, though there is no dedicated genealogy report on the public pages. An August 2026 update says: "Job page: every material row now expands into its pick history — lot number, quantity, date, and who picked it." Since October 2024, auto-generated finished-goods lot IDs can include the input lots picked for the job. Picks made through nesting work orders show no per-lot detail. This rests on vendor product-update posts.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com › Material lot traceability on the job(opens in a new tab); fulcrumpro.com › Include input lots in auto generated lots(opens in a new tab); api.fulcrumpro.com › Swagger.json(opens in a new tab); Vendor video, 2023, at 0:17(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Expiry & shelf lifeBest-before dates on materials and finished goods, with warnings before they lapse. | Yes | Lots carry an expiration date, which the API reference describes as "The date that this lot is supposed to expire." Receiving and finished-goods completions can also set a lot expiry date.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: api.fulcrumpro.com › Swagger.json(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Serial numbersUnique identifiers on individual units, for warranty or field service. | Partial | The vendor's CNC page carries the heading "Full lot and serial traceability" and says "lot and cert data tied directly to the jobs that consume them." That is a marketing heading, not a documented serial-number workflow, and the page does not say which plan includes it. Checked 2026-09-19.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Commerce & accounting
Costs, purchasing, storefronts, and the books.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Product costing & COGSWhat it costs you to make one, and the cost of the goods you sold. | Yes | Real-time job costing tracking labour and machine time.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| PurchasingRaising and tracking purchase orders to suppliers from inside the system. | Yes | The API reference covers purchase orders and receiving, including "Create a receipt for a specific purchase or sales order" and an endpoint to create draft purchase orders.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: api.fulcrumpro.com › Swagger.json(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Accounting connectionSends financial data to bookkeeping software, or includes its own general ledger. | Yes | The vendor states: "Share your invoices, purchase orders, and more with Fulcrum's manufacturing software that integrates with QuickBooks Online." From the vendor's QuickBooks Online integration page. Checked 2026-09-14.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com › Quickbooks online(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Ecommerce connectionPulls orders and pushes stock levels to a storefront or marketplace. | Yes | A Shopify integration brings orders into Fulcrum and keeps them in step: "Recent changes to the integration enables syncing updates from Shopify to Fulcrum which are inclusive of refunds, removing line items, adding new line items, removing line items and updating line item prices/quantities."Reviewed October 9, 2026. Openness & your data
Getting data in, out, and away if you leave.
| Capability | Finding | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| APIA documented programming interface so other software can read and write your data. | Yes | Public API documentation at developers.fulcrumpro.com.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| WebhooksThe system can notify other software the moment something changes. | Yes | Outbound webhooks exist and are managed in an admin grid. A product update describes how failing ones are handled: "Fulcrum now pauses delivery to a webhook after it keeps failing, still sends it one event a day to check whether it is back, and turns delivery back on automatically the moment that check succeeds." Newer webhooks carry only the record ID, so your side has to fetch the details through the API.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com › Failing webhooks now pause instead of retrying forever(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| MCP supportA Model Context Protocol server, letting an AI assistant read or act on this data. Useful, but it has nothing to do with whether the product plans materials. | Yes | The developer site publishes MCP documentation alongside the API. As always: useful for AI assistants, irrelevant to whether the product plans materials.Reviewed October 9, 2026. Source: fulcrumpro.com(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| CSV exportYou can get your lists out as spreadsheet files. | Yes | In a 2023 vendor video on integrations, the presenter says "for pretty much any Grid in our system you can export the data" and exports the sales order list. This covers lists and tables, not a whole account.Source: Vendor video, 2023, at 2:45(opens in a new tab)Question this |
| Full data exportYou can take everything, including history and relationships, not just a few screens' worth of rows. | Unknown | Not yet researched. We would need: documentation of a complete account export, database dump, or equivalent.Know the answer? |

Editorial notes and cautions
Things we would want a friend to know before buying.
- Fulcrum publishes MCP documentation, as do several others here, including Carbon, Katana and inFlow. That matters if you intend to put an AI assistant near your shop data, and it tells you nothing about material planning.
- We found no MRP claim on the marketing site, but 2023 vendor demos show Demand Planning and Purchasing Planning screens that recommend jobs and purchases from stock, open-job demand and incoming supply. Since January 2024, Purchasing Planning also gives an order-by date that accounts for vendor lead time. That evidence comes from vendor product-update posts rather than user documentation, so ask to see the order-by dates in a demo.
- No published pricing. Budget evaluation time accordingly.
Alternatives to Fulcrum
An alternative is always an alternative for a reason. There is no universal replacement.
Compared on Carbon's page, where we wrote: "Both target precision shops with scheduling at the center; Fulcrum is a conventional hosted product, where Carbon offers a source-available core and a documented public API."
Compared on JobBOSS²'s page, where we wrote: "Both target precision job shops with scheduling at the center; Fulcrum is cloud-only and newer, JobBOSS² offers on-premise and a longer track record."
Compared on ProShop ERP's page, where we wrote: "Both target precision shops with quality obligations; ProShop bundles a full QMS, while Fulcrum builds its product around automatic scheduling."
Evidence and verification
Capability evidence comes from the vendor's main page, the public API specification, the API changelog, vendor product-update posts and the vendor's own YouTube demos from 2023 and 2024. Several fields rest on API reference entries, product updates or demos rather than user documentation. No pricing published.

What we still want to confirm
We publish our gaps rather than hiding them. If you can point us at a first-party page for any of these, we will update the record and credit the correction.
- Obtain quoted pricing and seat structure. No current public pricing; the sales process is demo-led, so this needs a sales quote.
