HandiFox

by HandiFox (Tecom Group)

Light manufacturingProprietary SaaSPartially verified

Barcode inventory, purchasing and sales for businesses that keep their books in QuickBooks. HandiFox Online (web plus iOS and Android) has manufacturing orders that use up ingredients and add finished stock, with lots, serials and expiry, on its $129-a-month Pro plan. HandiFox Desktop extends QuickBooks Desktop and builds its assemblies.

Why it is classified this way

We call this a Light manufacturing product. Has bills of materials or recipes, consumes stock when you build, and tracks production, but time-phased planning is not verified.

It is not labeled Full MRP because we have not verified that it accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule; explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials; uses lead times or required dates; and produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. That is a statement about the evidence we found, not a claim that the product is weak, see the capability table and the sources below.

The six Full MRP tests, and how HandiFox does on each (2 of 6)
  1. YesIt represents a bill of materials, recipe, or formula.Evidence: help.handifox.online › Creating manufacturing presets(opens in a new tab); help.handifox.com › Managing Inventory(opens in a new tab); help.handifox.online › Creating manufacturing orders(opens in a new tab)
  2. PartialIt accepts dated demand, sales orders, a forecast, or a master production schedule. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.
  3. YesIt nets that demand against stock on hand and orders already incoming.Evidence: help.handifox.online › Automatic replenishment(opens in a new tab); help.handifox.online › Creating manufacturing orders(opens in a new tab)
  4. UnknownIt explodes requirements through at least one level of the bill of materials. Not established. No evidence found yet.
  5. UnknownIt uses lead times or required dates. Not established. No evidence found yet.
  6. PartialIt produces dated buy, make, transfer, release, or reschedule recommendations. Not established. Only partly shown: the evidence covers some of this but not all of it, so the test is not established.

These rules are applied identically to every product and enforced at build time, a record cannot be published as Full MRP unless all six pass with a source attached. Read the methodology.

Best for

  • Small distributors and assemblers already on QuickBooks Online who want barcode scanning and simple manufacturing orders
  • QuickBooks Desktop shops that build inventory assemblies and want Android scanners on the floor
  • Teams that need lot, serial and expiry tracking alongside pick-and-pack

Not a fit when

  • Makers who want manufacturing on a small budget, since it starts on the $129-a-month Pro plan
  • Anyone who needs routings, sub-assemblies or production planning; none is documented
  • Businesses that want their accounting inside the inventory system; HandiFox leaves it to QuickBooks

Editorial notes and cautions

Things we would want a friend to know before buying.

  • Manufacturing, lots, serials and expiry are Pro-only on HandiFox Online. The $49 Start plan is inventory and purchasing.
  • The Online prices sat under a sale label "Until August 1st" in October, with a note that the discount applies only to the first year. Ask what year two costs.
  • HandiFox Desktop is a $1,995 perpetual license per Android device, plus $495 a year per device for support, and it only works with QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Built around QuickBooks: Online can run standalone, but products, customers and vendors come from QuickBooks when connected, and the accounting stays there.

Alternatives to HandiFox

An alternative is always an alternative for a reason. There is no universal replacement.

  • EvenbatchLower costStronger batch & traceability

Evenbatch is a QuickBooks Online companion at a flat $49.99 a month whose production orders consume component lots first-expired-first-out, with a recall trace.

  • Order Time InventoryStronger true MRP

Order Time also sits beside QuickBooks Online or Desktop, and adds nested BOMs, work orders with steps and an MRP run that offsets demand by lead time.

  • SOS InventoryStronger true MRP

SOS Inventory is another QuickBooks Online add-on, with unlimited BOM levels on every tier and work orders on its top plan.

What we still want to confirm

We publish our gaps rather than hiding them. If you can point us at a first-party page for any of these, we will update the record and credit the correction.

  • Confirm whether ingredient lots consumed by a manufacturing order are recorded against the output lot.
  • Confirm whether a preset can use another manufactured item as an ingredient (multi-level BOM).
  • Confirm how the finished item's unit cost is set when a manufacturing order completes.
  • Confirm whether there is a public API or webhooks; none is documented.
  • Confirm the regular, non-sale Online prices; the cards still show a sale that ended August 1.
  • The site's menu lists a "Shopify Integration", but the link opens the B2B Portal page; confirm whether a Shopify connection exists.

Still unknown: uses lead times, capacity planning, multi-level bom, routings & operations, shop-floor tracking, quality controls, ecommerce connection, api, webhooks, mcp support, full data export.
